Max's Restaurant

Sunday, July 31, 2011

Jellybean was craving for kare-kare and Tapioca was craving for fried chicken. Well actually he was curious about Max’s fried chicken because Daddy Fred and I were raving so much about it. Finally, the opportunity came after he accompanied me to my dentist for checkup. Thank God it was not time to adjust my braces yet. We headed straight to Max’s Gateway Mall for brunch.

. . . butter and rolls

To start off, Tapioca ordered some rolls with butter. For Php25, it was so not worth it. The rolls were not fresh. It would have been appreciated if it was heated at least.

mushroom soup . . .

While I had the mushroom soup. Tasted like Campbell's.

. . . spring chicken half order

Tapioca said it was the saddest chicken he had ever seen. I told him try it first before making another comment. He tried it but he can’t get over the fact that it was sooo small. Oh well spring chicken is supposed to be smaller than the regular chicken, right?

kare-kare . . .

I loved it! Good enough to knock down my cravings.

Peanut sauce slathered on steamed rice, yum yum!

Based on Tapioca’s reaction on the chicken, I don’t think we would be back anytime soon.

Sick Tapioca at Pancake House

Saturday, July 16, 2011

Alright, so I thought Tapioca was just making excuses so he can’t go to work but truth is he's really sick. We went to the nearest hospital so he can have himself checked. And that’s at World Citi Medical Center. Their Medicard assistance sucks so we transferred to the most reliable hospital (this is just my opinion) which is Medical City. We got there at lunch time and the doctor’s secretary told us to come back after an hour. Since it's already lunch time and we have not eaten yet we decided to have brunch at Pancake House.

Whenever I’m at the hospital my appetite always seems to go down. I was hungry then but not sure what I wanted to eat. I had Tapioca order for me instead. For starter we got the almondigas soup. We both agree that this was waaay better than the one we made at home (remember this?). LOL.

. . . almondigas

The following food pics were Tapioca’s order:

chicken cordon bleu . . .

Tapioca did not like it. He said those pre-cooked cordon bleu at the supermarket tastes even better. I tried this too and it’s just okay.

. . . chicken carbonara

I had one bite and I though I should have had this instead of the omelet. It’s good.

cheese omelet . . .

He ordered cheese omelet for me. The egg was overcooked as you can see on the photo. Oh well, for me that's an overcooked egg. Sorry but I am very meticulous with the way my eggs are cooked. Even with my growling stomach I hardly finished this dish. Not because the egg was overcooked nor the dish was terrible, it’s just that I don’t feel like eating at hospital premises. It’s like there’s something wrong with my taste buds which I really can’t explain. I always love Pancake House but not at Medical city. Again, it’s hard to explain.

Aristocrat's Giant Cookie

Wednesday, July 13, 2011

Oh yes it is the biggest choco chip cookie I’ve ever seen and I got this from Aristocrat. They’re offering pastries as well but this biggie caught my eye.

As big as the party paper plate. Yum, yum!

To Janet Jackson - Sorry I Missed Your Concert!

Tuesday, July 5, 2011

I missed the concert and I'm so totally regretting it. But it's too late for that now. Thank God Tisha was able to cover everything and put it in a nicely written blog post. Click here to see what she had to say . . .

One word: Sigh.

Party at Blue Onion

Monday, July 4, 2011

Whenever Tapioca and I had breakfast in Eastwood we always pass by this cozy looking place called Blue Onion. Been very curious about it. From the outside it look so posh with it's white facade and the unusual door frame design , kinda like the soh-shal people go to for parties. I always wonder what it looks like inside. Never had the chance to get in because they are close in the morning. Also I'm not even sure if they even accept walk-ins. So imagine my excitement when I found out we are having our annual kick off party there.

. . . big smile, di maciado excited

May 29, 2011 at the Blue Onion Bar & Restaurant. Party theme: Back to the 90's. "The" most creative theme ever. It's simply putting it this way: come as you are, no need to make effort pa finding a costume. I was like "why bother suggesting a theme?". But ya know I still give them, the party organizers, some consideration knowing that they probably exert all their efforts and rack their brains off just to come up with this theme, right?

Anywayz, let's move on and talk about the event. Just to let you know there's about over a hundred people from our office but not all of them attended the party. But still the place was jam-packed! All seats taken, all the alleys, corners and nooks are occupied, you get the picture. That's because Blue Onion had a limited space. I bet if everybody did come we will all be partying outside the venue hahaha!!! Well, the party wasn't bad but it wasn't that good either. There's no usual party programme to entertain you so the only thing we were looking forward to: the raffle draws.

finally found an empty booth, kodakan time. . .

. . . more people joined us in the booth, now we're a crowd!!!

No food pic, sorry. I'm not sure who catered the food but when we checked out the buffet nothing hit our fancy. The food didn't look appetizing. Thank God we had dinner before going there. Had a couple of booze and picture taking here and there and when the grand prize for the raffle was announced, we called it a night. By the way, we did not win anything :-( but my friend Divi, she won a Sony Walkman!

. . . the lucky girl with my TL GF

And when our stomach finally digested our dinner, we felt the pang of hunger. Good thing Stackers Burger Cafe was right next to Blue Onion so off we go to get some belly satisfaction.

Tapioca had the double cheese burger . . .

. . . check out that melting cheese, baby!

with fries . . .

While I had the burger on a salad bowl. I always order the BBQ burger bowl to go but when I saw the new burger bowl flavor, I just have to try it. Here's the Caesar Burger Bowl.

just a-okay . . .

Still I prefer the BBQ, though.
