Too Hot to Handle - The RX 93.1 Anniversary Par-tay!!!

Saturday, August 30, 2008

For the longest time that I've been listening to RX 93.1 never have I've been to one of their parties. So when I heard that they will throw a party for their anniversary on August 29, I was soooo excited.

The party was held in White Ave., a brand new place (opened last July 2008) along the main strip of Tomas Morato. RX 93.1 were giving away free invites to the party for listeners who would like to come.

It was Tuesday evening. The rain was pouring so hard that night and there was nothing to do so I tuned in to RX. To my suprise the jocks were giving the cue for callers who would like to get free invites to the party. I was like, "Ok, let's give it a try". I even used my cellphone because that was the only phone closest to me at the moment. I was shocked when I heard the phone ringing. I was like "OMG, did I dial the right number?" I was even more shocked when DJ Rico answered the phone. At that time, I was shaking so hard. Really hard. It was my first time to call a radio station and I was pretty much expecting a busy tone rather than a ringing tone. Beats me but I'm actually talking to the jock!!! OMG!!! I just wanted to scream but I cant. Here's how the conversation goes as far as I can remember. If I was still sane at that time I would have probably record it. But duh Im not.

DJ RICO: Hello!
ME: Hello!
DJ RICO: Hi! What's your name?
ME: My name's Anna (with my famous accent)
DJ RICO and DJ FRAN: (echoing what I have said)My name is Anna!!!! (I thought it was funny)
DJ RICO: How old are you Anna?
ME: I'm (thinking long and hard, trying to decide whether to say 25 or 26, turning 26 actually)Twentyyyyyyyyyy five. (There I said 25)
DJ RICO: Where you from?
ME: I'm from Taguig
DJ RICO: So Anna, do you like DJ Macoy?
ME: Of course (As if! I dont even know him and havent heard him yet)
DJ RICO: Do you have any love messages to DJ Macoy?
ME: I'm sorry?
DJ RICO:(Repeating what he said)Do you have any love messages to DJ Macoy?
ME: Uhm. no...none... sorry
DJ RICO: Ok, just hold on there blah, blah, blah....

So I was on hold. I was worried then thinking about my load wont be enough to hold on. But after 5 mins of being on hold he got back to me and asked for my contact info. Here's the conversation off air.

ME: So. I won?
DJ RICO: yeah. I'll give you 2 invites. Make sure na pupunta ka ha.
ME: Yeah I will.
DJ RICO: Alright. See you at the party. Ingat.
ME: you too!

Sweet. Officially my very first RX Party and i was sooooo damn excited.

Josh, accompanied me to RX's office in Ortigas to get the invites. Grabe I was so happy to see the super cute DJ/VJ Igi G. When we saw him he was wearing this mailman bag and a huge box of crispy cream so I though he was a delivery guy. It was Josh who recognized him. We were so shy that we didnt even approached him and talk to him. Sa party na lang siguro.

August 29, 2008. Unforgettable night. Super fun and great party!!! Really nice ambiance and amazing DJ who has taste for great music. And not to forget the FOOD! Speaking of food we enjoyed their sisig so much. I was a bit hesitant on ordering sisig because I cant still get over this nasty sisig served in Magnet Cafe. It was sunog but when I tasted White Ave's sisig hay nakalimutan ko yung sunog na sisig.

I promised myself to attend RX party as much as I can especially if its going to be DJ Macoy who's in charge of the music. He's soooooooo awesome!!!!. He really kept us partying till the AM!!! I was hoping to see Igi G and of course my new idol Chico Garcia and talk about photography and his awesome blog but we were too lousy to roam around. Not that lousy but we enjoyed our place which was near the table of those hot guys with shutter shades. Over all the party was the bomb.

Proud to be NAUI

Saturday, June 21, 2008

This post is long overdue. At long last, my c-card finally arrived. Now I have proof to everyone that I'm a certified scuba diver. Mind you but I'm a NAUI certified diver. Proud to be one. Hah!

Many thanks to my ever patient, caring, super strict but super bait na instructor Ronsard. I'm probably one of his worst student ever but he never gave up on me. Sir Ron if you're reading this: Thanks soooooooo much from the bottom of my heart!!! (naks). To my diving friends Ivy, Karlo, Marj, Kirby, Rey and Adrian: you guys are great. Kelan tayo mag-aaral magswimming ha? :-P

Also, another proof were the underwater pics and videos courtesy of who else? You guess it right. Ronsard. Thanks ulit Sir Ron :-). I've been longing to see them and now that I got a hold of the cd, I cant wait to post everything on my site. But for now I'll just post the still shots. As for the videos I still need to learn how to do some video editing para naman may presentation at cyempre para masaya. So wait na lang kayo after 42 years ok?

Something Fishy

camera shy flowerhorn

Hay, namiss ko na magblog. I missed multiply. Wala kasi masyado happening sa life and bad trip block na multiply sa office. Hay talaga. Anyway, this is not about Something Fishy restaurant in Eastwood City, ok. I just wanted to share this really nice story about the flowerhorns that PJ gave me a few months ago.

Well, last year PJ gave me 3 flowerhorns because nanganak yung flowerhorn nila at ang daming anak as in! Around 200+ I think so he was generous enough to gave some to us. Unfortunately those 3 fishes died for some unknown reasons. Eh madami nga yung anak nung flowerhorn so he gave me 2 more *giddy*. This time I made sure na alagan silang mabuti para di na mamatay. Actually, my entire family was taking care of the fish.

sperm cells?!?
...sperm cell-like fingerlings..

1st week of June, my brother saw something strange inside their aquarium. There were tiny specks of white floating like dusts or something. He thought it was just the shit of the flowerhorns and the janitor fish. Kaya lang may times na sobrang dami na ng floating white objects inside the aquarium so he tried to observed it even more. And then it dawned on him na fingerlings yung mga lumulutang-lutang. Grabe as in soooobrang liit nila. They're like microscopic sperm cells!!! Bwahahaha! You can't even describe na they're actually fish swimming and not floating hehe. We were so happy kasi for the longest time na nag-alaga kami ng mga isda ngayon lang kami nakapagbreed.

flowerhorn close upcan you see my reflection?more sperm cells..este fingerlings :-)
Nyak! I guess we'll have to wait until lumaki sila ng konti para matransfer sa ibang aquarium. So kung sino man may gustong umampon sa kanila inform nyo me ha? *wink*

Tao^by
Sampaguita

Surviving Sagada

Sunday, March 23, 2008

Here I am in the office. Still sleepy after the 6-hour ride from Sagada to Baguio and another 8 hours from Baguio to Manila. When we arrived in Cubao, I headed straight to work for my 4am shift. Quite exhausting. Whew!

I SURVIVED SAGADA!!! Though I'm not really the adventurous type (but I'm a nature lover) so being able to survived in sagada is quite an achievement for me. Hindi ko aakalain na magagawa kong magtrek for 3 straight days with matching spelunking. As of the moment, all my body parts are aching. I feel like going to the spa after this (As if I still have the money hehehe!)

After our cave activity, I said to myself I should get those shirts with I SURVIVED SAGADA. I mean, I deserve it!

The 3-day/3-night trip wasn't enought to see all the wonders of Sagada. Perhaps that would be another reason for me to come back.

Guess what? I'm finally going to Sagada for the first time. YAY!!! I am so EXCITED!

My friends and I have been long planning to go there (I think way back after graduation) and now I'm making it a reality. When year 2008 started we already planned this for the holy week. However due to some unexpected circumstances, it's going to be just me and Vanjee and a new friend from the scuba diving class! I'll post some more when I get back to manila. chaO!

Open Water Dive

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

Finally, I have something worth posting. hehehe! We just finished our open water dive in Anilao, Batangas and what can i say.... the experience was unforgettable!!! Sobra akong na-amaze! Cant imagine myself doing it but there I was swimming with different marine life underwater. Well, its time for me to get out of my comfort zone and do something that i've never done before. The experience was great but goodness gracious, pangmayaman talaga ang sports na toh! Naubos and pera ko. Hehehe!

This activity was somewhat unexpected. It started when i've read something from pinoyexchange.com about Coron, Palawan. The place was magnificent and the pexer (Verbal Kint, i think that's his name) who made the review was very captivating. Words cant explain what i've felt when i read his post.

I sent my friends email about Coron and i didnt expect Ivy to reply saying that she will be taking scuba diving lesson. She and her officemates were also planning to visit palawan but they wanna learn how to dive first. I was surprise because Ivy dont know to swim. Sabi nya ndi daw kelangan marunong magswim para matutong magscuba diving. And i was torn between taking scuba diving or swimming lessons. It was so hard to decide. I've talked to my brother about it and he's discouraging me. He kept reminding me about movies with sharks etc etc until i made up my mind.

On February we started our scuba diving lessons. There was six of us. Ivy and 4 of her officemates (Marj, Joseph, Adrian and Rey) and me. Lecture was fun at first. Parang wow, eto na. Excited. Daming kelangan matutunang skills at parang ang dali-dali lang gawin while our instructor, Ron explained everything. Then there comes the disclaimer part. Biglang, oooooppsss!!! Wait a minute!! Ano ba tong pinasok ko? Gusto ko pang mabuhay! Marami pa akong pangarap sa buhay!! Waaaahhh!!!

I was shaking so hard so i have to get out of the water the soonest possible. Dunno why that happened so fast. Maybe because of the water or because i'm nervous or could be both. Whatever! That was our 1st pool session. I accomplished nothing. Hehe!

I was telling all these stories to my officemate Marlon and his reply to me was "Anna, pinasok mo yan kaya dapat kayanin mo" And he was right. Kailangan ng determination. We had 5 pool session and I had to take extra pool sessions because i'm a fast learner (wish ko lng!).
Akalain mo nakasama ako sa check out dive namin? Yes, I DID! Well, we stayed in Arthur's Place and it was great. Bermuda grass, buffet, quiet place, nice view, good place to unwind and of course for diving. Mabato yung beach kaya halos lahat ng resorts are for diving.

Our first and second dive was in Caban Island. The dive site wasnt that great because there were a lot of jellyfish and trash and visibility was not good too. I pricked my finger in one of the stones under water (not sure if its a stone or something else) and man it swelled for few minutes. Nagalit sakin yung instructor namin.

On our 3rd dive we entered the water through shore. There's current but the dive site was quite good compared to the previous sites. There's a lot of corals and fishes. Parati namin naaapakan. We were doing some exercises then so its really hard to focus on not to step on the corals.

The plan dive for the 4th and 5th dive was in cathedral cave where we can feed the fishes but as the current was strong we have to change location. We went to kirby's rock and something else i dunno the name......to be continued.....
